Our mission at Ponderosa Veterinary Hospital is to cultivate and celebrate the human-animal bond through exceptional medicine and service. Our core values are Care, Compassion and Communication.  We have been providing companion animal care in the Flathead Valley and western Montana for over 30 years. We strive to exceed our clients’ expectations by offering the kindest, most respectful care for all of our patients. Our goal is to provide progressive high quality medicine while offering our clients dedicated customer service.

  • Dr. Pamela J. Buchli

    Veterinarian   

    Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Pamela Buchli received her Doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire. Her main research focused on developing analogs of a protein, Interleukin-2 and studying the effects it had on specific cells within the immune system. She went on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 2001. This is where she met Dr. Roger Fleming and following graduation, they relocated to Vermont and practiced at a small animal clinic. Other places they have enjoyed living and playing include Sanibel Island and northern Wisconsin. Moving to Kalispell has been a dream following several visits to the area over the last decade.

    Dr. Buchli's special interest include toxicology, animal behavior, internal medicine as well as reptiles and small mammals. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, gardening, and cross-country skiing. She and Dr. Fleming enjoy spoiling their furry kids including a Sheltie and a sassy 18 year old cat.

  • Dr. Roger L. Fleming

    Veterinarian
    Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Roger Fleming enjoyed living on Sanibel Island, Florida where he worked as a certified veterinary technician at C.R.O.W. (Care and Rehabilitation of Wildlife Center) and Coral Veterinary Clinic in Fort Myers. He attended the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2001. After practicing in Vermont and Florida he and his wife, Dr. Buchli relocated to Wisconsin to be closer with family. After selling the clinic in Wisconsin they decided to move to the Flathead Valley.
    Dr. Fleming's special interests include feline medicine, internal medicine, surgery and dental work. Dr. Fleming enjoys backcountry camping, biking, rock climbing, archery, hunting and fishing.

  • Dr. Scott Wendling

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Wendling graduated in 1982 from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1985 Scott and his family returned to the Flathead Valley and opened Ponderosa Veterinary Hospital. Over the last 30 years Dr. Wendling has continued his education in areas such as laser therapy and surgical techniques, orthopedic repairs, radiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and comprehensive animal wellness care. Over the last three decades, Scott has greatly enjoyed developing long lasting relationships with his patients and their animals. In his free time Scott spends time flying, traveling to Thompson Falls and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
  • Candice Hoerner

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Candice is one of our technician in charge of animal care. She has a veterinary technician specialty in dentistry and will bring her expertise to our office and to our clients. She grew up here in the valley and just recently returned after a short time living in Libby. Candice and her husband, Joel, have a son, Lane, two cats, PJ and Pogo, one dog Mooch and Culdees the horse. In her time away from the office, Candice enjoys camping, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, snowboarding, knitting and competing in horse events.
  • Nickole Blake

    Client Care Specialist                   
    Nickole is our shining, happy face at the front desk since November 2009. She and her husband, Randy, have lived most of their lives in the Flathead. She spent several years working as a substitute teacher and going to school at Flathead Valley Community College before joining Ponderosa. Nickole and Randy have a 15 year old son, Caleb. They share their home with one dog, Bella, one cute kitty, Coco, and one horse, Dawn. Nickole enjoys scrapbooking, crocheting, knitting and reading. Her family likes to camp, hunt, fish, and ride four-wheelers.
  • Julie Hanley

    Client Care Specialist
    Julie is new to the Flathead Valley and to our office. She and her husband Tyler, recently moved here from Chicago, Illinois. They have one very big, lovely fur-baby, Chip the chocolate lab. Julie is excited about exploring the Flathead and getting in some camping, hiking and rafting. In her free time she enjoys crafting, decorating and getting ideas from Pinterest. Julie's background in education will be an advantage to the Ponderosa team as our newest customer service specialist. Please join us in welcoming her.
  • Justina Schiff

    Justina is new to our team at Ponderosa Veterinary Hospital, and is enjoying her new career in small animal medicine. She has a diversified background, which has taken her around the world. Justina grew up on a small farm in Libby, MT, where she raised animals and practiced agriculture until 1998. In 1999, Justina accepted a horticulture internship in New Zealand and then followed her love of plants to Juneau, AK, where she helped run a floral studio. In 2003, Justina achieved a certification from the Floral Design Institute, in Portland, OR. Eventually, Justina returned to Montana, because she was homesick for her family and close friends. Justina lives with her husband Buck, their two kitties, one puppy, and spends all her free time working in her garden. We are thrilled to have Justina with us, and hope you stop by soon with your pets to meet her.
